Title:
Learning about “THE REAL FLORIDA”
Introduction:
The Longleaf Pine-Turkey Oak Habitat is an upland
savanna-like ecosystem that once covered most of the Southeastern
United States but is now in danger of becoming extinct.
Bok Tower Gardens, located at the highest point on the peninsular
of Florida, known as the Lake Wales Ridge area, has managed to
preserve a part of the ecosystem near the tower.
Bok Tower Gardens and the Pine Ridge Nature Preserve
area are very near Lake Wales High School and many plants and
animals distinctive to the area are in danger of extinction.
Enjoy our virtual trail hike documented with pictures
and Global Positioning System (GPS) points.
