Scientific Name: Garberia AKA Lavender Flower
The Garberia is a woody evergreen shrub that grows to 7ft
tall. Grayish green alternating leaves. The flowers are tubular,
and grow in clusters with color ranges from rose to purple.
It flowers in march, then in October through December. Garberia
grows in north Florida from Marion, Putnum and Clay counties.
It can also befound in Martin county in south Florida.
Threatened and endangered to Florida, the name honors Dr.
Abram P. Garber (1838-1881) of Pennsylvania. Who came to Florida
for tuberculosis in 1876.
